Norwalk Now Lends Support to Norwalk’s Urban Core Businesses
Multi-platform Collaborative Marketing Group Sets their Sights on 2019

December 20, 2018, Norwalk, CT: Norwalk Now, the collaborative marketing organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the dining, retail, and recreational businesses that makeup Norwalk’s Urban Core districts (SoNo, West Ave, and Wall Street) continues to build upon its unique business model. Launched in October of 2017, the organization’s outreach is based upon multiple platforms, including; social media, the Norwalk Now website, all-access media coverage, advertising, and event activations, all of which work directly with participating businesses that have come together to create Norwalk Now.

“Norwalk Now is designed to promote the city of Norwalk. But, where this business model differs from other city initiatives is with the focus being on the individual businesses, “explains Norwalk Now Director Linda Kavanagh, “In order for a city to be a viable destination, its businesses must thrive. Norwalk Now lends support to these businesses and ultimately creates opportunities for Norwalk, as a city, to be seen and heard.”

The organization has been able to flourish due to the substantial financial long-term investment made by the Norwalk Parking Authority. Over the course of the organization’s first year in operation, additional financial support from the departments of Economic Development and Redevelopment from the city of Norwalk has also been made, further reinforcing Norwalk’s commitment to a sustainable marketing program that has the ability to grow.

In addition to the on-going marketing, PR, and social media support, as well as acting as a portal for information for consumers to utilize, Norwalk Now events have played an integral part in the group’s social media and mainstream media outreach, as well as consumer awareness. Highlights have included (view video links): NORWALK CITY HUNT, the amazing race through Norwalk which has contestants solving clues and completing challenges, all at various Norwalk Now places of business, competing for prizes and making their way to the finish line party. Norwalk City Hunt is coming up on April 27, 2019; NORWALK CITY LIMITS, a massive live music schedule which takes place in various Norwalk Now businesses and features the area’s most talented musicians. Next City Limits runs May 22-24, 2019; NORWALK NOW CRUSH, a celebration of beer, wine, and spirits throughout this multi-day schedule of tastings, food pairings, educational classes, product launches, and more! 2019 dates TBD; and the NORWALK NOW INST-CHALLENGE, a month-long social media contest where consumers take the lead on promoting Norwalk Now businesses by posting their pics, boomerangs, and videos to social media. Consumers can look forward to more of these larger event activations throughout the year, in addition to a series of smaller collaborative events from Norwalk Now businesses, including Bicycles & Brunch.

Norwalk Now, in its first year, has over 30 businesses on board. Social media continues to grow, with already 5000 followers on Instagram alone. Print, digital, and broadcast media reach, for both regional and national outlets, have surpassed expectations, and social media impressions are a part of Norwalk Now’s daily internal and external ethos.

“We are thrilled with the progress and the impact that Norwalk Now has made in a little over a year, “says Kathryn Hebert, Director Transportation Mobility Parking, “Norwalk Now is an integral part of the City of Norwalk’s economic and community development efforts. And, by working collaboratively and directly with the business community, Norwalk Now will continue to shine a light on the City now and in the future.”
