Who Is LobsterCraft?
Founded in 2012, LobsterCraft is the brainchild of Captain William Michael Harden. Captain Mike, as his friends and loyal followers call him, is a Coast Guard Captain and licensed Lobster fisherman. In 2006, Captain Mike purchased Jennifer Lynn, a 38’ WESMAC. A strong, sturdy lobster boat handmade in Maine, Jennifer Lynn is able to handle any weather the Atlantic and Long Island Sound waters throw her way. Based out of Groton, the Jennifer Lynn works our line of deep-water lobster traps east of Montauk in the Atlantic Ocean. As lobstermen say: "The colder the water, the sweeter the meat!" and that's true for the lobster you'll have at LobsterCraft!
Captain Mike’s passion for the ocean evolved into a business after friends asked if he could catch, cook and prepare lobster for them. Realizing the void in fresh, local lobster, Captain Mike purchased a truck in 2012 and began rolling, literally starting off with private parties and street vending from the truck. Friendly service and great tasting lobster rolls have garnered LobsterCraft a number of national and local accolades such as 2018 MSN Top 50 Food Trucks to Try by State, 2018 Best Food Truck in Moffly Media’s New Canaan, Darien, and Rowayton Magazine, 2017 Food Network’s Flavored Nation best CT-style lobster roll in the country, 2014 Highest Rated Lobster Bisque at ChowderFest, and many others. This is also reflected in the hundred plus 4+ star ratings that LobsterCraft has received across sites such as Yelp, Google, Facebook, and others!
Today, LobsterCraft is much more than just a food truck as they launched their first permanent lobster shack in Fairfield in January 2018 to rave reviews at 1891 Post Road which is across the road from Rawley’s Hot Dog Stand in the back parking lot. There is a small indoor counter area and great outdoor seating under the LobsterCraft Party tent. The new LobsterCraft Kitchen-South Norwalk will build on this concept by offering a much larger indoor seating area, a number of outdoor tables and the full menu of lobster rolls, soups, and other good things that Captain Mike and the crew delight their guests with. Located in the Historic South Norwalk Train Station on the New Haven-bound side, the new restaurant will serve both lunch and dinner to local businesses, residents, and visitors to South Norwalk.
